Creating Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

The Student Outcomes page enables users to create Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and establish relationships with Institution, College, Department, and Accreditor outcomes. PLOs clearly state what Students should learn by the end of their studies; they describe the knowledge, skills, or qualities Students should have upon program completion. PLOs guide teaching to ensure that programs meet standards and prepare students for their future careers.

Creating relationships between PLOs and Institution, College, Department, and Accreditor outcomes allows Program Coordinators or Instructors to collect assessment data via the PLOs. The collected data is then inherited based on the relationship to the Institution, College, Department, and Accreditor Outcomes. If the Outcome Mapping and Measurement via Program Settings is configured as This Program Utilizes Student Outcome Learning Indicators, related indicators can be added while creating PLOs. Performance indicators provide the means to evaluate and measure the attainment of program outcomes, helping to ensure that educational goals are effectively met.

The Student Outcomes page is accessed via the Program Homepage and can be edited when Programs are in Draft and In Revision statuses. Utilization of Student Outcomes is limited to Institution, College, and Department Administrators and Program Coordinators.

  1. Clicking Edit will open the Student Outcome Designer to create or edit PLOs.
  2. Clicking Outcome Sets will switch views between Outcome Sets (Institution, College, Department, External or Program) or show all outcomes regardless of set.
  3. The Student Outcomes page can be exported to PDF or printed by expanding the Export menu.
