June 8 — SIRS Reminders in Canvas outage [update – fixed]

The pop-reminder for Student Instructional Rating Surveys (SIRS) in Canvas is currently not working, and has been temporarily disabled. Instructors should use email and in-class survey administration to encourage their students to respond to SIRS that are running now or in the near future. The “Student Instructional Rating Surveys” link in the Canvas course navigation menu continues to work. Students can also use the main link — https://sirs.rutgers.edu/blue — to access the surveys, and students will continue to receive automated email messages reminding them of the surveys.

The problem is a result of ongoing changes in Canvas to improve security of the system, which has broken some integrations with external tools. The vendors for both Canvas and the Blue survey tool are aware of the issue, and are working together to fully reimplement the integration using the new security structure.
